Savanna Sojourns Safaris is a Kenyan safari company based in Nairobi. We plan private and small-group safaris to the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, Samburu, Tsavo and beyond, choosing the parks, lodges and pace to match how you like to travel.

Maasai Mara
Kenya's most famous reserve: open grassland with lions, cheetahs and leopards all year, and the river crossings of the Great Migration from about July to October.

Amboseli
Large, relaxed elephant herds against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro, which is clearest early in the morning. Swamps fed by snowmelt keep wildlife close even in the dry season.

Lake Nakuru
A compact Rift Valley park with black and white rhinos, Rothschild's giraffe and flocks of flamingos along the lake shore. It pairs easily with the Maasai Mara.

Hell's Gate
One of the few parks where you can cycle and walk among zebra, giraffe and buffalo. Dramatic cliffs and a gorge walk make it a lively stop near Lake Naivasha.

Ol Pejeta
A conservancy in Laikipia below Mount Kenya, home to a large black rhino population, a chimpanzee sanctuary and the last two northern white rhinos.

Samburu
Dry, rugged country along the Ewaso Ng'iro river with species you won't see further south: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich.

Tsavo East and West
Kenya's largest protected area. Elephants turn red from the volcanic dust, and Tsavo West adds lava flows and the clear pools of Mzima Springs.

Taita Hills
A private sanctuary between the two Tsavos, known for lodges raised above waterholes, so the wildlife comes to you, day and night.

The long dry season from late June to October is the classic choice, and it is when the Great Migration is usually in the Maasai Mara. January and February are also dry and excellent. April, May and November are the green seasons: wetter, quieter and better value.
Can I change the itinerary of a listed safari?
Yes. Every safari on this site is a starting point. We can add or remove days, swap parks, change the lodges to suit your budget, and add extras such as a hot-air balloon ride or a few days at the beach.
Do you run private safaris or shared group trips?
We can arrange both. A private safari gives you your own vehicle and guide, so you set the pace. Shared or group-joining departures cost less per person. Tell us which you prefer when you get in touch.
What is included in the price?
Each trip page lists exactly what is and is not included. Safari quotes generally cover the vehicle and driver-guide, park entry fees, and accommodation and meals as set out in the itinerary. International flights, entry permits, travel insurance and tips are usually extra.
How do I book?
Choose a safari or send us your plan above. A planner confirms availability, adjusts the itinerary with you and sends a final quote, with the deposit and payment schedule set out in writing before you commit.
Do I need a visa or travel authorisation for Kenya?
Kenya's entry rules have changed several times in recent years and many visitors now apply online before travelling. Requirements depend on your nationality, so check the official Kenya government travel portal, and we will remind you of the current rules when we confirm your booking.
Are your safaris suitable for children?
Yes. We have family-friendly itineraries with shorter drives, and we can choose lodges with family rooms and pools. Some lodges set minimum ages, so let us know your children's ages when you enquire.
What should I pack?
Neutral-coloured layers (early mornings are cool, afternoons warm), a fleece, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars and a camera with spare batteries. Soft bags fit more easily into safari vehicles and light aircraft.
